Gary P. Hopp, 66, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Delnor Hospital. He was born September 16, 1955, in Aurora, Illinois.
Gary was a graduate of Sacred Heart Grade School and Aurora Central Catholic High School. He loved playing the guitar and in his youth he was a member of two bands, "Larkspur" and "Kit-N-Kaboodle". He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for eighteen years during which time he represented his fellow postal workers as a Union Steward and local president of the American Postal Workers Union. Gary was a devoted stay at home dad for ten years during his children's formative years. Gary went on to serve as customer service manager for the office of the Kane County Treasurer. He loved pizza, the Chicago Cubs, watching CNN and The Godfather trilogy and spending time with his granddog "Jethro"
He is survived by his two loving children, Stephanie (her fiancé, Andrew Klinsky) Hopp, Nicholas Hopp; his dear friend and former wife, Nancy Hopp; his sister, Susan (Leonard) Seraphin; his brother, Richard (Mary) Hopp; many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Richard and Louise (Beisle) Hopp.
Memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora, Illinois. 630-631-5500. Due to Covid-19 pandemic protocols, social distancing and face masks are required for those in attendance.
