Florence Louise Hora passed away August 30th, she was born on August 10th, 1936 to John and Florence (Bumbar) Silagi Sr. She was the youngest of 4, and given the nickname Flossie by her family. Florence grew up and raised her family on Aurora's East side, in an area known as Pigeon Hill.
Shortly after graduating beauty school, Florence married the love of her life, Leo Hora and they had 3 children. Florence spent much of her life cooking and baking for her family, which included many Romanian favorites such as kifla, crescents, placinta, and stuffed cabbage. She was also a beautician for over 30 years. Hobbies she enjoyed were crocheting, knitting, quilting, sewing, and crafting. She was a brownie leader for her daughters.
Flossie was a member of St. George Byzantine Catholic Church, and also the ladies auxiliary. She spent much of her time helping out with bake sales, cabbage rolls, and chicken dinners. Flossie was an avid bowler, bowling many years on St. George's women's league as well as a mixed couple's league with her husband Leo. She continued to bowl until 2020 and had a lifetime high game of 258. Flossie and Leo spent many years with family and friends fishing on East Leaf Lake in Minnesota.
By the time Flossie and Leo retired to North Aurora they had 6 beautiful grandchildren that they adored. With the birth of her first grandchild, Flossie became forever known as Grandma Foo-Foo. Leo suffered a debilitating stroke and Flossie devoted the next 10 years taking loving care of him. Later in life she continued her love of gardening, Sunday afternoons playing rummikub with her dear friends, and trips to the beach.
She is survived by her two daughters, Julie (Guy) Ellingwood of Cumming Georgia and Jill (Mike) Denler of Yorkville; six grandchildren, Cristi (Mike) Covelli of North Aurora, Kelly (Colin) Griffin of Aurora, Eric Spang of Phoenix Arizona, Christopher Ellingwood of Cincinnati Ohio, Devin Ellingwood of Atlanta Georgia, and Sophie Ellingwood of Athens Georgia; six precious great- grandchildren, Delaney, Michael, Claire, Nolan, Carli, and Ava; her sister-in-law, Sylvia (Bishie) Oros and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leo, her son, George, her parents, her brother, John Silagi Jr., and two sisters, Mary Falkowski, and Marjorie Nagy.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. George Byzantine Catholic Church; Fr. Frederick Peterson, O.S.B. will officiate with interment in Lincoln Memorial Park.
In state visitation will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at St. George Byzantine Catholic Church, 720 Rural Street Aurora, Illinois 6050.
