Ermalina (Marquez) Cadena, age 82, from Aurora, IL passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 20th, 2022 at her residence.

Ermalina was born in Fresno, CA on June 15, 1940 to Margaret and Diego Marquez. She was the beloved sister of Johnny, Diego, Benny, Margie, and Lupe, and she was a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt for her family.

Ermalina was married to Alfredo Cadena II for an impressive 57 years, and together they had five children. Alfredo Cadena III of Aurora, IL, Alexandro Cadena (Katherine) of Sandwich, IL, Alberto Cadena of Montgomery, IL, Anna Hernandez (Fernando) of Montgomery, IL, and Andrea Cadena of Aurora, IL. She is also survived by her 14 cherished grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother; she always put her family first. She was known for her kindness and generosity, and she touched the lives of countless people with her warm and loving nature. She always opened up her home to family and friends, and she took great joy in caring for the family's latest newborn. If her home wasn't filled with family, you would see her reading outside and getting some sun, or attending to a grandchild's sporting event to cheer them on. She was always supportive of her family, and she would do anything for them.

Ermalina was a natural storyteller, and she loved sharing tales of her life with her loved ones. She especially enjoyed reminiscing about the early days of her relationship with Alfredo, when he was in the marines and how they fell in love when she was 23. She was a very independent young lady, but Alfredo saw how amazing of a person she was and didn't want to live another day without her, and together they raised one amazing family.

Ermalina's memory will live on through the lives of her loved ones, who will always carry her love and wisdom with them. May she rest in peace.
