Donald LeRoy Larson, age 99 of Aurora IL passed away at Rush-Copley Hospital on January 23, 2025. He was born on September 26, 1925 in Aurora, IL, the son of Ernest and Matilda Larson. Don was married August 23, 1947 to Rosemarie M. Larson who preceded him in death on December 24, 2023. They spent 76 happy years together. Don was an Army veteran who served his country during World War II from 1943-1946. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be missed by his family and many loving friends.
Don is survived by his brother Gordon (Pam) Larson, two daughters, Barbara (Michael) Carnright and Nancy (Mark) Horton, his granddaughters Samantha (Alex) Piccolo and Alex (Henry) Horton-Cilley; his great granddaughter Parker Piccolo, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as two sisters and two brothers.
Don was a great bowler, but his passion was playing golf. He got a hole-in-one at Phillips Park Golf Course. He loved watching all sports, but the best game he watched with Rosie and Nancy, was the last game of the 2016 Cubs World Series, where his beloved Cubbies won after 108 years. He had a great sense of humor, loved to jitterbug and was known for having the Larson "hips." Our many thanks go out to his friends/personal caregivers, Dorothy, Sandi and Larry C.
