Donald M. King, 95, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Presence Mercy Center. He was born November 24, 1917 in Cambria, Wisconsin.
Donald moved to Aurora in the late 1930's where he met and married Doris Komes on August 13, 1941. He was employed by Singer Sewing Company for fifteen years. In 1955, Donald and his wife began the King Sewing Shoppe, and later owned and operated Julie Ann and Jaye Kaye Fabrics until 1974. He was a member of St. Mary Church since 1947 and a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary Church. Donald was an avid sports fan, especially of the Green Bay Packers (and at times, the Chicago Bears). He enjoyed gardening and baking, learning the culinary arts while working in a bakery in his late teens, and passed on his talents to his daughters and grandchildren. He assisted his son James in developing a landscaping and wholesale nursery business in 1974 and was a great source of guidance and encouragement to his family with his constant positive perspective and business expertise.
