Donald G. Brummel, Sr., 98 years of age, of Aurora, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 05, 2023. He was born March 29, 1924.
Donald worked hard during his life and never completely retired. He was raised on a farm in DuPage County and learned how to farm for the first 24 years of his life. He and his wife Joan, whom he was married to for 70 years, started D.G. Brummel Excavating, which they ran for 35 years. Don was a lifelong member of Annunciation BVM Church and a 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Moose Club in Aurora, Elks Club in Englewood, FL, a Life member of Turners Club in Aurora, and a member of the Florida Sarasota County Farm Bureau. Donald enjoyed extensive traveling with Joan, playing the "Fiddle" (Violin) and was proficient in lapidary work faceting countless stones and making beautiful mountings. Don served as a Republican Precinct Committeeman for 27 years and as the Aurora Township Assistant Supervisor for 7 ½ years. He will be GREATLY missed.
Don was a loving father to three children, Donald (Cathy) Brummel, Jr., Dianne (Michael) Mutersbaugh, and Linda (James) Wrona; a caring grandfather to 11 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Joan; and infant son, James; his parents Mary and Christopher Brummel, three brothers, Ralph, Joseph, and Wilbert; and three sisters, Lillian Patterman, Louise Brouch and Marcella Berg.
Funeral from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY will be Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 9:30am to Annunciation BVM Church at 10:00am. Fr. Patrick Gillmeyer, OSB and Fr. Joel Rippinger, OSB will concelebrate with interment at Marywood Cemetery.
