Obituary

Dennis F. Sheldon, 69, of North Aurora, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 at Rush University Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 19, 1945 in Warren, Ohio to the late Joseph Sheldon and Jane (Harold Lee) Nelson.

Dennis was an avid Notre Dame, White Sox and Chicago Bears fan. He had a love for golf and enjoyed listening to music from the 60's. Dennis served in the Army from 1964-1967 in Korea. He retired from General Mills in 2008 after 39 years of service.

Dennis leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years, Jean; his sister, Merilyn Theisen of Aurora; his brother, Carl "HB" (Laurie) Abbott and their daughter Megan of Bartlett; and "my brother" John and "Favorite Southern Belle" Lacey McFall; his brother, Eugene (Sally) Sheldon, their daughter Stacey (Philip) Longo and their children Lená and Morgan of Florida; his nieces, "the daughters he never had" Theresa (Dave) Linkletter, Mindy (Kris) Melvin, Jennie (Jay) Tennis and the late Sherrie Lloyd; his great nephews and nieces (also known as his grandkids) Derik, Abigail "Sugar Booger", Andrew, Rebecca "Cutie Pie", Matthew, Nicholas "Little Domer", Lauren, and Jackson "The Tornado"; and his extra special friends, Jeff (Molly) Treest, Mike (Sue) Diroff, Debbie (Bill) O'Connell and daughter Lauren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Sheldon; his sisters-in-law, Mary Patricia "Pat" Mallette and Helen Abbott; and his brother-in-law, David Theisen.

Dennis' family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at Presence Mercy Center ICU, 5th Tele and Rush MICU.

A memorial visitation will be held Friday, June 27, 2014 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, with a memorial service at 3:30 PM with Fr. Kenneth Theisen, O.S.B. officiating, at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N.
