David L. Thill, 79, of Sugar Grove, IL passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025, at his home. He was born October 25, 1946 in Aurora, Illinois.
David graduated from Marmion Military Academy before continuing his education at Northern Illinois University and Aurora College. An exceptional baseball player, he drew the attention of several professional scouts. His athletic pursuits were put on hold when he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served in field artillery during the Vietnam War. David was awarded the Purple Heart for his service prior to his honorable discharge. David started his working career at UPS then continued his career in his mother's businesses, FM Graphics and Chek Lab. He enjoyed auto racing, baseball, football, hunting, and fishing, and was also a licensed private pilot. David was a lifelong member of both the Aurora Sportsmen's Club and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth (DeVillers) Thill; his stepson, Jerry (Heather) Huber of Elburn, IL; his grandson, Will Huber of Elburn, IL; his sister, Janet (Gregg) Parker of Charlotte, NC; a niece Meg (Anthony) DellaMea; and two great nieces, Valerie and Sloane DellaMea.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold J. Thill; his mother, Kaye (Groot) Mason and her husband, Dr. Coye C. Mason, MD; his maternal and paternal grandparents; several aunts and uncles.

A private burial is scheduled for a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in David's name may be made to the Americal Legion or the Midwest Region of the English Springer Rescue of America
