Darlene Rae Froehlich (née Pizzuto), 68, of Aurora, IL, passed away unexpectedly on February 20, 2025. Born on December 6, 1956, in Chicago, IL, Darlene was a beacon of selflessness, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her boundless love and unwavering kindness touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Darlene's life was defined by service, not out of obligation, but from a deep and genuine desire to bring joy to those around her. Whether through a warm embrace, a thoughtful gesture, or her quiet acts of generosity, she embodied love in its purest form. She never sought recognition—her fulfillment came from lifting others up.

Throughout the years, she wore many hats, excelling in roles as varied as working in mutual funds, running her own daycare, assisting in dental care, and bringing warmth to the community through her baking at Abbey Farms. Most recently, she worked at The Bickford of Aurora, where she brought comfort and companionship to the residents, treating them like family. No matter the job, she approached each day with dedication and a smile.

Darlene's faith was the foundation of her life. As a devoted member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, she not only found strength in her beliefs but lived them out in every way. She was always among the first to volunteer, whether for church events, community outreach, or simply lending a hand wherever it was needed. Her faith wasn't just something she practiced—it was something she radiated, offering love, kindness, and unwavering support to all who crossed her path.

She found joy in life's celebrations, treasuring every birthday, holiday, and gathering as an opportunity to create lasting memories. Christmas, in particular, held a special place in her heart—a season she infused with magic, warmth, and an abundance of love.

She also had a special place in her heart for dogs and showered each of her many four-legged companions with love and affection over the years. Whether rescuing, spoiling, or simply spending time with them, Darlene had a way of making every dog feel like the most cherished creature in the world—and they adored her in return.

Above all, Darlene was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She and Raymond shared 40 beautiful years of marriage, a testament to their enduring love and partnership. She is survived by her beloved husband, Raymond; her cherished children, Michael (Amanda) Froehlich, Lauren Froehlich, Danielle (Brian) Damhoff, and Juliana Froehlich; and her step-son, Todd Froehlich, along with his sons, David and Marc Froehlich. She was a proud and loving grandmother, a cherished sister, and a dear friend to many.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Ruth Pizzuto, and her precious grandson, Caleb Damhoff.

Her absence leaves an immeasurable void, but her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched. She will be forever remembered for her kindness, her unwavering love, and the way she made the world a better place simply by being in it.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake St. Aurora, IL. 60506 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. There will be a Divine Mercy Chaplet Rosary Service by Deacon Tim White at 5:00 pm.


Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 10:00 am at HOLY ANGELS CHURCH. 120 South Lancaster Avenue Aurora, IL 60506. Fr Michael Lavan will officiate followed by entombment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
