Charles Chester Ward, 78, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora. Charles was born on September 23, 1944 in Albany, Georgia, the son of Chess C. and Gladys F. (Ross) Ward. He served our country in Vietnam as a member of the United States Army. On September 23, 1967 he married his beloved, Gloria Plata in Aurora.
A devoted husband and loving father, Charles enjoyed fishing, bowling, and being a member of the VFW and Moose club in Batavia. He is cherished and will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his four children, Charles (Laura) Ward, Jr., Serena (Terry) Bennett, Karen Ward, and Brian (Tammy) Ward; thirteen grandchildren, Christopher Cox, Jessica Bennett, Madison Ward, Olivia Bennett, Mackenzie Ward, Nathaniel Cox, Brian Ward, Jr., Alexus Cox, Jack Ward, Paiton Ward, Kailee Ward, Braeden Ward, and Noah Ward; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents; sister, Frances (Ward) Hennaut; and aunts, Jeannett Rychak and Annett Stanley.
Funeral Service will begin Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 10 AM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake Street, Aurora. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora, Illinois. 630-631-5500.
