Carol S. Bakala passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, November 13, 2023. She was born on May 26, 1941 in Aurora, IL.
Carol is survived by her husband Dick of 63 years, her six children: Pete (Eileen) Bakala, Sue (Mark) Ostermeier, Kathy Bryant, Anne Bakala, Joe (Erin) Bakala and Patti Bakala, her eleven grandchildren: Brian Bakala, Philip Bakala, Brendan Bakala, Patrick Bakala, Emily (Bakala) (Cam) Sonju, Mary Kate Bakala, Kelley (Agnew) (Levi) Wolff, Steven Bryant, Grace Bakala, Tom Bakala and Madeline Maar, and one great granddaughter, Sofia Wolff.
She is also survived by her brother Tom (Penny) Herlihy, two sisters; Joan Herlihy and Jean Rettig, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carol is preceded in death by her mother and father Sue and Joseph Herlihy, her mother-in-law Genevieve, father-in-law Louis, and brothers-in-law; Ron Bakala and Paul Rettig and sister-in-law Janice Glenn.
Carol was a 1959 graduate of Madonna High School and was a member of Holy Angels Church. She was a devoted and loving wife, wonderful mother and adoring grandma and great grandma. She loved her children and grandchildren without bounds. She will be missed greatly by all.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake St, Aurora, IL 60506 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, with a liturgical service at 4:00 PM.
Funeral from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY will be Saturday November 18, 2023 at 11:30 AM to Holy Angels Church at 12:00 PM, 120 S Lancaster Ave, Aurora, IL. Fr. Charles Reichenbacher, O.S.B. will officiate with entombment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
