Berta Nila Maley Dunham

Berta Nila Maley Dunham (nee Jordan), 87, of Aurora passed peacefully from home into the arms of her Savior while surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 01, 2017. She was born January 28, 1930 in El Paso, TX and moved with her family to Aurora, IL at the age of 17. In Aurora, she raised her family and developed deep and lasting relationships. Those who met her were quickly captivated by her smile, personal curiosity, and engaging wit. She offered comfort, prayer, and often counseling with those who shared her company. Berta was an extraordinary pianist and shared her talent, entertaining friends and family. She also played the organ for Aurora Police softball tournaments to the delight of many. Berta had an unfaltering commitment to Hesed House and the Clothes Closet where she volunteered countless hours to assist those in need, enlisting all her family and friends in the effort. Berta was proud of her Mexican heritage and her time growing up in El Paso, TX. She often helped with translation and her fluency in Spanish allowed her to assist our city in many capacities. Berta was beautiful, charismatic, smart, talented and a treasure to those who knew her. She is survived by her children Delia Basile (Peter Metrou), Michael Nila, Randy Nila, Ryan (Ursula) Maley, Lisa Mia Deufel, and B.J. Maley; her grandchildren Regina (Tom) Kazda, Dustin Heilmann, Jennifer (Tim) Theriault, Jaspar Nila, Todd Nila, Dulcinea (Patrick Benson) Basile, Jordan Maley, Katherine Maley, Rachel Maley, and Jessie Deufel; her great grandchildren Camille, Collin, Ana, Martina, Ryan, Jazlyn, and James; her brother Alfredo (Chiqui) Jordan; her niece Marsha Jordan and her nephew Alfredo Manuel Jordan. She was preceded in death by her daughter Alma Alicia Nila; her husband James B. Maley; her husband John C. Dunham; her parents Jesusita “Jessie” and Alfredo C. Jordan; and her brother Hector “Bobby” Jordan. Funeral from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY will be Monday, July 3, 2017 at 9:30am to Holy Angels Church at 10:00am. A concelebrated Mass will be offered by Fr. Godwin Asuquo and Fr. Jerome Leake with entombment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 3:00pm until 7:00pm at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N.
