Obituary

Bernardo Olivas Acosta, 82, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, Illinois. He was born August 20, 1939, in Pueblo de Santa Cruz, Santa Maria Del Oro, Durango, Mexico. He attended St. Therese Church. Bernardo retired from The Aurora Housing Authority after many years of service. During his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, and farming in Mexico.

Bernardo will be greatly missed by his surviving family which include his wife Filomena Olivas Ortiz; five children, Regina (Benjamin) Vilchis, Rosendo (Carmen) Olivas, Enrique (Carolina) Olivas, Luis (Hilda) Olivas, Saul Olivas; fourteen grandchildren, Ismael, Daniel, Maricela, Mario, Evelyn, Lizbeth, Joel, Yvonne, Henry, Kevin, Miguel, Luis, Eder and Obed; Sixteen great grandchildren; Two brothers, Concepcion Olivas, Carmelo Olivas; Two sisters, Leonarda Rivera, Barbarita Garcia; several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Bernardo was preceded in death by his parents Amada Olivas and Cayetano Acosta; two children, Jesus Saul and Norma Icela Olivas, and brother, Merced Olivas.

Interment services will be in Pueblo de Santa Cruz, Santa Maria Del Oro, Durango, Mexico.

In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made in Bernardo's memory to the Aurora East Educational Foundation, Dominican Literacy Center, or Hesed House.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora, Illinois 630-631-5500
