Obituary

Augustina Walz, 84, of Aurora, Illinois, known as Tina, peacefully passed away at her home on March 3rd, 2024, surrounded by her children, family and friends. Tina was born in Pleasanton Texas, in 1939.

Tina pursued a career in Hair Styling and practiced as a stylist in Aurora, IL. Her life found fulfillment through quality time with family and friends, as well as her passions for painting, country line dancing, shooting pool, and bowling. She actively participated in the woman's auxiliary at American Veterans Post 103. Additionally, Tina had a fondness for traveling to Las Vegas and enjoyed playing slot machines.

She is survived by her children Charles "Chuck" Van Horn III, (married to Glenda) of South Carolina, and her granddaughters Amber Van Horn and great-granddaughter Kiarra Ruff, of Seattle, Washington. Leah Van Horn of Portland, Oregon. Alison Boggs (married to Christian) of Elkhorn, Wisconsin.

Her daughter Christiana "Chris" (Van Horn) Leal of North Port, FL, and her grandchildren, Amanda Tilton, (married to Christopher), and great-granddaughters, Addi, Lainey and Clara French of North Port, Florida. Ariana Da'More (married to Anthony) of Edmond, Oklahoma. And her grandson Benjamin Wilson of West Point, IL.

Her son James "Jim" Van Horn of Kaneville, IL and her grandchildren Tanner and Katrina Van Horn of Kaneville, IL.

And her son Nick Corso (married to Jennifer) of Batavia, IL, her granddaughter Alyssa Meadowcroft, and her grandsons Ayden, Austin and Alex Corso of Batavia, IL.

Her beloved sister Agnes Rodriguez of Aurora, IL, her beloved brothers Gill Mauricio also of Aurora IL and Louis (married to Stella) of Sandwich, IL.

Her niece Elizabeth Carey (married to Steve) of Fort Walton Beach FL, nephew; Epi

Many nieces and nephews, notably; Raymond; Dolores, Carolina, John Jr. and Nicole; Cecilia, Cindy, Suzy and Gill Jr.; Laura and Louis Jr.

Finally, her best friend Janey Probst of Tennessee, friends Rosey and Ron, Connie and Sue all of Aurora.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard Walz. Her son, Donald Van Horn and grandson Gordie Hauter II. Her parents Carolina and Louis Maurico of Aurora and her brothers John (Aurora, IL) and Fred (Madison, WI) Mauricio. Her nephew Mark Rodriguez, great-niece Rachel Carey, also of Aurora.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 9:00am until 11:00am at The Daleiden Mortuary, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora, immediately followed by a graveside service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Then a celebration of Tina's life will take place at the American Veterans Post 103 at 1194 Jericho Rd. Aurora, IL on March 6, 2024 from 1:00pm until 5:00pm. A light buffet lunch will be provided and a cash bar.
