Obituary

Andrew J. Hettinger, 58, passed away peacefully after a four year battle with interstitial lung disease on Monday, January 15, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born on September 26, 1965 in Aurora, the loving son of Frank and Betty (Leifheit) Hettinger. On April 14, 2000 he married, Amber Yost in Aurora.
For twenty eight years he was an IT Specialist for Caterpillar in Aurora and for the last nine years with the Illinois Library Association.
A devoted husband and loving father, Andrew's favorite aspect of his life was spending time with his girls. He cheerfully supported every activity they were involved with, sports or otherwise. He was a coach and for a time was an umpire for baseball youth league. Andrew loved sports and played softball and was an avid Blackhawks and Bears fan. He always looked forward to the annual Hettinger fishing trip. He helped to create life long memories for his wife, Amber and their girls through family vacations and going to country music concerts. He also was a dog lover and fostered many dogs. He loved life and will be and missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his his wife, Amber; his three beautiful daughters, Erin, Casey, and Riley Hettinger; parents, Frank and Betty Hettinger; siblings, Linda (Spencer) Miller; David (Marcia) Hettinger, Suzanne (John) Newhouse and Catherine (Timothy) Zinzer; and many nieces and nephews
Preceding him in death is his infant son, Andrew Francis; paternal grandparents, Francis and Christine Hettinger and maternal grandparents, Earl and Evelyn Leifheit
Memorial Mass will be Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Katharine Drexel, 8S055 Dugan Road, Sugar Grove.
A celebration of Andrew's life will immediately follow at The Turner Club upstairs club room, 1335 Mitchell Road, Aurora.
