Alexander Ryan Yokosawa

Alexander Ryan Yokosawa, 23 of Naperville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at his home. He was born July 11, 1991 in Hinsdale, IL. Alex was an avid hockey fan and for many years played roller hockey with his brother and friends. He earned his 3rd dan (degree) black belt in Taekwondo in May, 2009. He loved hunting every year with his dad and brother, Niko, in Michigan. Alex was a very good cook in spite of not liking any vegetables and often cooked for his mom and brother at home. Most of all, Alex loved being with family, visiting and playing with his little sister, Dominique, and just hanging out with his friends. In early years, he loved to play Shogi (Japanese chess) with his grandfather and brother. He graduated from Neuqua Valley High School in 2009 and was enrolled at College of DuPage with a strong interest in social work. Alex was always willing to help others and had a very kind heart. He had a very strong work ethic and desire to please. Alex will be deeply missed by his family and by all whose lives he touched. Survivors include his mother, Sharon Brace; his father, Martin (Anastasia Daleiden) Yokosawa; his brother Niko; his sister Dominique; Grandmothers Ann Brace, Sirkka Yokosawa & JoAnn Daleiden; Grandfather, Peter G. Daleiden; four aunts, Debbie (Stuart) Fleming, Caroline Beal (Herman) Frazier, Tina (Peter) Buhelos, Stephanie Daleiden; two uncles, Mark (Janis) Brace and Kenneth (Tina) Yokosawa; eight cousins, Brent, Nathan and Michael Fleming, Lisa and Andrew Buhelos, Sofia and Eva Yokosawa, and Alexis Banks; two great aunts, Marjaana Soininen in Finland and Midori Tashiro in Japan and many friends. Alex is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Paul Brace and Dr. Akihiko Yokosawa. Visitation will be Friday, September 5, 2014 from 3:00 pm until 8:00pm with a liturgical wake service at 3:00 pm at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake Street, Aurora, IL. 60506. Rev. Gary McCann will officiate services Friday afternoon. Private graveside services will be held at Naperville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Alex's name made to Alexian Brothers Behavior Health Hospital, 1650 Moon Lake Blvd, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169, would be appreciated.
