Albert J. Miller, 93, of Aurora, IL passed away peacefully at his home on October 3, 2024. He was born the youngest of 8 children on August 25, 1931 the son of Philip A. and Margaret nee Frieders Miller. He attended St. Nicholas Grade School and graduated from East Aurora High School. Bert married the love of his life, Betty, on January 21,1956, spending 63 years together.
Bert served in the US Navy in the Korean Conflict. He retired from Northern Illinois Gas company having 35 years of service.
Since childhood, Bert enjoyed woodworking and built numerous items in his home workshop that he shared with family and friends. He was a long-time member of the Phoenix Club, played golf and enjoyed playing in the Cow Sucks Tournaments. Bert enjoyed many years of fishing in Minnesota with the Williams and Okerblads, and many trips with his family camping. A favorite place of his was at their cottage in Millington, IL, even the flood of 1996 that required major cleaning and work, to a later date where a tree fell on top of it did not stop Bert, he put a Mobil Home on the property to enjoy the Fox River until the property was sold. There are so many memories with family, relatives and friends at the river.
He is survived by his son's Dan, Chris (Jayne), Mike (Veda), and Curt (Christina). Grandson's Mike (Jenny), Chris (Erika), Jeff (Ashleigh), Derek (Shannon), Jim (Katie), and Granddaughter's Brooke (Justin), Ashley (Matt) plus 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Betty, his siblings, Rosemary, Dorothy, Leslie, Richard, Clare, Louise, and Phil.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the hospice team of Accent Care that came to provide care and guidance for Dad.
A memorial mass will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church; Fr. Jerome Leake will officiate. Interment will private.
