Agnes Hayes, 80, beloved, wife, sister, mother and friend, recently of Batavia, formerly of Aurora, Schaumburg, and Chicago, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 30, 1940, the daughter of John and Julia (Booth) Houlihan. Agnes married John Hayes, Jr. on May 4, 1963. She was a registered nurse for fifty years with an honorary doctorate from Loyola University.
Agnes was well known for her quick wit, storytelling and welcoming home. She loved a good joke, traveling, numbers, and games. She had an adventurous spirit, was extremely generous
and loved to throw parties. Her home was known by all, and she enjoyed celebrating. She always acknowledged birthdays, holidays and special events with those she loved. She was truly one of a kind, fiercely independent, loyal to her faith, wonderful with words, and she will be uniquely remembered and dearly missed. Auf Wiedersehen.
She is survived by her husband, John Hayes, Jr.; eight children, Teri Schiro, Ruthanne Hayes, Joseph Hayes, Regina Hayes, Susan (Carlos) Cuevas, Mary (Nicholas) Sasson, Sara Hayes, Laura Hayes; eighteen grandchildren, Brian, Matthew, Joshua, Zachary, Jennifer, Joseph, Victoria, Stephanie, Nicholas, Daniel, Timothy, Aidan, Kaya, Aric, Liam, Drake, Evan, Rhea; two great grandchildren, Gabriel and Lilith; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her son, Daniel Hayes; her parents, John and Julia (Booth) Houlihan.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Annunciation Church, 1820 Church Road, Aurora, IL; Fr. Patrick Gillmeyer, O.S.B. will officiate with interment at Marywood Cemetery.
