Dolores Ella Grimes

August 23, 1933 - November 25, 2018

Dolores Ella Grimes, 85, was welcomed into Heaven’s gates on November 25, 2018. She was truly a caring soul and leaves behind many loved ones. Despite her Alzheimer’s diagnosis, she continued to love even when her memory failed her. The world lost an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend today. Dolores was born on August 23, 1933 to Frank and Catherine Guddendorf in Aurora, IL. She married the love of her life, Leroy Marvin Grimes, on September 26, 1953. Together, they resided for over 50 years in Aurora, IL where they raised their six children. Sadly, Leroy passed away on January 20, 1989 after a courageous battle with cancer. Dolores is survived by her children Rick (Tammy) Grimes of Sheridan, IL, Jeff Grimes of Seattle, WA, Pam (Nick) Walsh of Morris, IL, Steve (Jeanna) Grimes of Morris, IL, Sandy (Mark) Warren of Sandwich, IL, a Michelle (Jeff) Ward of Aurora, IL; her sisters Betty Glover and Joan Jensen; and loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dolores was preceded in death by her loving husband Leroy; her parents Frank and Catherine; daughter Debra Lee; grandchildren Jeremiah Patterson and James Hinich; and three brothers and three sisters. The family would like to offer a very special thank you to the loving staff of Unit 400 at the Ottawa Pavilion in Ottawa, IL, for taking exceptional care of Dolores during her time at their facility. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018, at 12 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY0 North Lake Street, Aurora, IL; with interment to follow at Lincoln Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 4 PM to 7 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY 220 North Lake Street, Aurora, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Dolores to the OSF Healthcare Hospice Center, Ottawa, IL.
