William P. DeKing

William P. DeKing, 92, of Montgomery, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Jennings Terrace. He was born April 19, 1922 in Aurora, Illinois. William was an Army veteran of WWII, having served in the Philippines, and his many decorations included an American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon with 3 Bronze Battle Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award and WWII Victory Medal. He and his wife Dona served as foster parents for Kane County and took care of more than 50 children over the years. William was a lifelong member of the L.O.O.M. #682 in Batavia. He was employed as a core maker for foundries from Aurora to Chicago, and retired from School District #129 of West Aurora. William loved gardening, birds, and keeping active outdoors, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors. Survivors include his loving children, Bruce (Adrienne) DeKing of Aurora and Chireen DeKing (Brian Dunn) of Montgomery; his grandchildren: Jennifer (Steve) Huber of North Aurora, William DuMont and Julie DeKing both of Montgomery; his step grandchildren: Tracy (Matt) McCannon of Sugar Grove, Tony (Pam) Furman of Little Rock, AK, Erin (Darren) Fox of Yorkville, Kyla (Greg) McClure of Plano and Audrey (James) Woodard of Plano; his great grandchildren: Ryan Cooney, Mallory and Brandon DuMont and Avery Schmidt; and his step great grandchildren: Anthony (Lorin) Furman, Dalton Furman, Myranda Furman, Alyssa McCannon, Lavon McCannon, Samantha McCannon and Piper Fox. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Dona (Williams) DeKing; his son, William in infancy; his parents, Henry and Theresa (Bohr) DeKing; his brother, Ed DeKing; and two sisters, Pearl Adams and Frances McKinness. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 12:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY. The Rev. Thomas Rosa, Interim Rector will officiate. Inurnment of William and Dona will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N.
