Rose M. Hettinger 1934 – 2017 Rose Mary (nee Gette) Hettinger, 83, of Aurora, Illinois passed away peacefully at Briarwood Skilled Nursing Facility in Geneva, Illinois on Friday, July 14, 2017 Rose was born on April 20, 1934 in Aurora, Illinois, the daughter of Albert J. and Anna C (Schaefer) Gette. Rose grew up on the family farm in the Marywood community, helping out with the care of the animals and tending in the fields with her brothers and sisters. Rose attended Annunciation grade school and was a faithful Catholic member of Annunciation church. She graduated from Madonna High School and held a few odd jobs until working at Merchants Bank in the Proof Reading Department, eventually being promoted to head of that department. Rose married John A. Hettinger Jr. on August 8, 1953 and began her life as a homemaker and eventually started a family. Her interests in her life were playing softball, even in her seventies, a right hander batting left handed into many home runs in backyard games with the family. She also enjoyed trap shooting with her husband. Through the years, she baked and cooked delicious meals for family, friends, and neighbors. She tended her flowers and vegetable plants during the summer months with much delight and always fed the birds and squirrels who visited her yard. Her love for children was profoundly seen while caring for relative’s and friend’s children throughout the years. She enjoyed getting together with her girlfriends for lunch and shopping sprees where she usually ended up in the candy aisle. Rose had a great sense of humor and her many witty comments left people laughing very hard. Rose is survived by her four children, Debra Hettinger, John (Kris) Hettinger III, Rose Ann Hettinger and Garett (Janelle) Hettinger. Her six grandchildren are Timothy (Fiancé Rachael Reinke), Cara (Matthew) Hoesly, Beth Hettinger, Jackie (Benjamin) Pepich, Hope Hettinger, and Cali Hettinger. She has two great grandchildren Ryan Hoesly and Noah Pepich. Rose is survived by her sisters, Catherine Woodard and Barbara Rivera and her brother, Joseph Gatte, and many nieces and nephews. Rose also leaves behind her beloved Swiss Mountain dog, Chase and a cockatiel, Pierre who brought her much joy. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Hettinger Jr., her infant son, Timothy Hettinger, her father, Albert J. Gette and mother, Anna C. Gette. Her infant brother, Stephen Gette, her brothers Adam Gette, Albert Gette, and Phillip Gette. Her sisters, Margaret Kies and Mary Richtman. Sincere thanks to all who cared for Rose, especially Dr. Sergio Mercado and the staff of Briarwood Skilled Nursing Facility and Seasons Hospice. Special thanks to our “angels” Kris Hettinger, Hope Hettinger, and Carol Hettinger who supported and loved Rose in a very special way. A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at THE DALIDEN MORTUARY 220 North Lake Street, Aurora, Illinois 60506. A memorial mass will be on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Annunciation Church , 1820 Church Road, Aurora, Illinois. Burial of cremains will follow at Marywood Cemetery.
