Mary Ann T. Jacobsen

Mary Ann Jacobsen, 89, of Aurora passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 17 at Sunnymere in Aurora, Illinois. She was born March 5, 1927 in St. Helena, Nebraska. Upon graduating from high school, Mary Ann enrolled in the United States Cadet Nurse Corps training program at Presentation College in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She began her nursing career at Hand County Hospital in Miller, South Dakota, transferred to Copley Memorial Hospital in Aurora in 1949 , paused in 1951 to raise her children, and returned to nursing in 1965 until the time of her retirement in 1995. Mary Ann lived a life devoted to God and service to humanity. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church where she served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion delivering the sacrament to patients at Copley, as well as serving with the Sanctuary Sodality. Mary Ann was an avid reader and, for many years, a volunteer with the Adult Literacy Project at Waubonsee. She is survived by four daughters: Janice Jacobsen of San Francisco, CA; Marilyn Jacobsen of North Aurora, IL; Sheila Jacobsen of Montgomery, IL; and Joyce Jacobsen of Misericordia Home, Chicago, IL; three grandchildren: Mark Seppelfrick, Dianne Seppelfrick, Jeanna (Todd) Kayer, and Andrew Beaufils; three great-grandchildren: Cassiday Kayer, Isis Seppelfrick, Nathan Kayer, Felix Beaufils, and Gigi Beaufils. She is also survived by her sisters Madelyn Schulte and Rita Conard, her brother Richard (Katherine) Schulte, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Helena (Boeckman) and Stephen Schulte, sisters Josephine Mary Muth, Monica (Bill) Kastens, brothers-in-law Warren Muth and Maurice Conard. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Lowell "Jake" Jacobsen. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 21, 2016 at 9:30 from THE DALEIDEN MORTAURY to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 10:00 AM. Fr. Timothy Mulcahey will officiate with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a liturgical wake service at 4:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora, Illinois, 60506. 630-631-5500.
