Leo J. Ahasic Sr.

LEO J. AHASIC, SR., 89, passed away at his home in Sugar Grove, Il. surrounded by his family on September 25, 2014. Leo was born March 17, 1925 in Aurora, Il. , the son of Casper Ahasic, Sr. and Antoinette (Pfeifer) Ahasic. Leo was a member of Holy Angels Parish in Aurora and was an usher for many years. He also enjoyed bowling, and snow skiing. He bowled for many years at the former Elks Club in Aurora. Leo was a member of the Fox Valley Snowdrifters Ski Club in Geneva, IL. He went on many ski trips with this group and ended his skiing at the age of 85 with a memorable four generation ski outing. He was a member of the Lions Club for many years. He also served as an officer and was a member of the local ostomy club for many years. Leo was proud to have served his country as a member of the Army Air Corps during World War II. A few years ago he went on an Honor Flight Chicago trip to Washington, D.C. to commemorate his time in the service. Leo worked full time until he was 81 years old in the family business, Aurora Laundry and Dry Cleaners which was started by his father in 1919, and Valley Linen. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janet (Novotne) Ahasic. his children Leo (Barb) Ahasic, Jr., Dr. Gary (Judy) Ahasic, Annette (Steve) Rector, David (Deryn) Ahasic, Richard Ahasic and Mary (Michael) O’Connor, 14 grandchildren, Kristin (Brian) Stumm, Heather Ahasic, Justin (Stephanie) Ahasic, Erin (Nathaniel) Repp, Jacqueline Ahasic, Lauren Ahasic, Jared (Katie) Rector, Adam Rector, Dawson Ahasic, Dylan Ahasic, Michael O’Connor, Catie O’Connor, Jane O’Connor, Elizabeth O’Connor and 5 great grandchildren, Brooke, Evan, and Paige Stumm ,Benjamin Ahasic, baby Repp (due in October) his sister, Marianne Gorenz and his sister-in-law Alice Rose Ahasic. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY at 9:30 AM to Holy Angels Church at 10:00 AM. Fr .Bernard Schaefer will officiate with interment in Mt Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, September 29, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N.
