Katherine Marie McNamee

Katherine Marie McNamee (nee Watson), of Aurora, IL, formerly of St. Louis, MO died peacefully Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born May 9, 1943 in St. Paul, MN. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, OJ, three daughters, Erin (Marty) Lyle, Shannon Stevens and Regan (Sean) Barrett; her son, JP (Cynthia) McNamee; her grandchildren, Michael (Selina) Lyle, Doug (Jen) Lyle and Brett Lyle; Eddie Catich, Alec, Michael and Johnny Stevens; Ryan, Brennan, Caleb and Dan Barrett; and Declan and Fiona McNamee; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother, Kirk (Debbie) Watson, and her sister, Elizabeth (Cole) Ostrander :) She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Helen Watson, and her siblings, Barbara Snyder, John Watson and Mary Williams. Kathi grew up in St. Louis, MO and graduated from Xavier High School, Class of 1961. She was united in holy matrimony to OJ McNamee on May 30, 1964 in St. Louis, and moved to Aurora in 1969. She was an avid reader, knitter and sun goddess; and was a phenomenal storyteller. Kathi was a daycare provider for many years, and loved each and every one of her daycare kids as her own. She was a member of Holy Angels Parish in Aurora, IL and Holy Spirit Parish in Mims, FL, and had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother; spending many hours in prayer at Adoration. Kathi brought countless hours of laughter and love into many lives, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial mass will be offered on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 10:00 am at Holy Angels Church, 180 S Russell Ave, Aurora, IL 60506 ; (630) 897-1194. Fr. Michael Lavin will officiate. Inurnment will be in St. Louis, MO., preceded by a memorial mass there as well, sometime in May. Memorial visitation will be Monday, April 24, 2017 at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora, IL. 60506, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Kathi’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
