Jorge R. Salas

Jorge R. Salas, 65, of Aurora, passed away peacefully Monday, November 18, 2013 at Presence Mercy Medical Center surrounded by all of his loved ones. He was born December 27, 1947 in Seccion Coronel Herrera Municipio de Montemorelos Nuevo Leon (Rancho El Pastor), Mexico. Jorge was an amazing person with a hunger for life. He had a contagious smile, a great sense of humor, and was always ready to make you laugh. Jorge is gone from this earthly world, but he will live on forever, for he left us plenty of memories. Those who knew him will never forget him, as he was a friend of a friend (amigo del amigo). Jorge was a member of the Aurora Latin American Club for over 30 years. He had a passion for boxing, baseball and music. Jorge was proud of his family, and was a funny and loving father, grandpa, son, brother….a beautiful person. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his children: Sandra Salas, Jorge (Maria Elena) Salas Jr., Veronica (Manuel) Esparza and Gisell Salas; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren that he adored; his mother, Eva Salas Reyna; his siblings: Imelda (Enrique) Contreras, Jose (Maria) Salas, Raquel (Jesus) Medina, Maria (Ernesto) Rios, Ana (Jose) Cervantes, Diana (Antonio) Cervantes, Rosa (Ignacio) Ramirez, Dagoberto (Oralia) Salas and Martha Lorena (Juan) Aranda; numerous nieces and nephews; his aunt, Josefa (Alla) Reyna, whom he loved dearly; and his special friend, Dina Elizondo. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elvira Salas Ceniceros in 1993; and by his father, Jose Guadalupe Salas Sanchez. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet, Holy Family Medical Center, Ballard Rehabilitation Center in Des Plaines, Elmwood Nursing Home and Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora for all the compassion and care given to Jorge these last 14 months. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 23, 2013 from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY at 9:30 AM to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 10:00 AM. Fr. Lorenzo Gonzalez will officiate with interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, November 22, 2013 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N.
