Irene Mudry

Irene Mieno Mudry, 97, of Aurora, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 14, 2018. She was born on November 11, 1920. Irene married Mike Mudry on February 7, 1942. She was a life-long member of St. George Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary. Irene enjoyed the Romanian dishes her mother taught her, including stuffed cabbage, kifla, crescents and funcuri (bismarks). She also learned how to cook Puerto Rican food from her dear friend Virginia Cruz. The family loved her rice and beans which she brought to all the family gatherings! Besides cooking, her hobbies were crocheting and painting ceramics. She is survived by her six children Joann (Larry) Nelson, Linda Ortiz, Mike (Sue) Mudry, Debbie (Jeff) Gengler, David (Camilla) Mudry, and Mary Mudry; her 12 grandchildren Lisa (Jon) Ischi, Lori Schaalma, Leslie Nelson, Sue Ortiz, Amy Ortiz, Sarah (Robert) Beck, Eric Mudry, Melissa (Matt) Mahon, Ryan (Katie) Gengler, Courtney (Doug) Seale, Whitney Mudry and James Mudry; her 14 great grandchildren Audrey and Joe Ischi, Quinlan Nelson, Kiefer Ortiz, Addison Lent, Nathan (Ally) Beck, Madeline, Kyle, and Lauren Beck, Logan and Aidan Mahon, and Ethan, Davin, and Claire Seale. Irene is also survived by many nieces and nephews including two special nieces Candy Clingan and Carol Glover. She was preceded in death by her husband Mike Mudry, her father and mother John and Florence (Nagy) Mieno who immigrated from Santa Mare, Romania, sisters Florence (Eli) Popovich, Mary (Mickey) Dorsey, Betty (John) Ureche, Ann (George) Ureche, Violet (Woody) Dare, and three sisters who died in infancy; brothers John (Lena) Mieno, James (Ceil) Mieno, George Mieno, and Louie (Jean) Mieno. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY. Elder Michael Mudry and Pastor Ken Carr will officiate with interment at Lincoln Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora, IL 60506. (630)631-5500.
