Genevieve A. May

Genevieve Antoinette May, 96 of Aurora, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013. She was born June 30, 1917 in North Aurora, IL. Genevieve attended Annunciation Grade School and graduated from Madonna High School in 1935. She was a lifelong member of Annunciation Church where she sang alto in the choir for many years and was also a member of the Ladies Sodality. On October 28, 1939, she was united in marriage to Edwin “Hans” May. She enjoyed playing dominoes, Bunco, bingo and cards with her family and friends. After raising her family, she was employed by the Ben Franklin Store and then by Carson’s Department store in Aurora until her retirement in 1994 at the age of seventy-seven. Survivors include her seven children, Rich (Dora) May of Aurora, Ray (Freida) May of Topeka Kansas, Ginny (Gene) Kluber of Sugar Grove, IL, Fred (Linda Plant) May of Aurora, IL, Paul (Rachel) May of Aurora, IL, Donna (Greg) Jacobs of Batavia, IL and Allen (Louise) May of Aurora, IL; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one sister Adeline Jones of Aurora, IL. , one brother Donald Meyer of Aurora, IL. and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin in 1984; parents William and Katherine (Sauber) Meyer; six brothers, Al, Victor, Arnold, Wilbert, Eugene and Ernest Meyer and by her sister, Theresa Weistroffer. Funeral services will be Friday, July 19, 2013 from 9:30 am from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to Annunciation Church at 10:00 am where her grandson, Fr. Raymond May will officiate. Interment will follow in Marywood Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake Street, Aurora, IL. 60506. (630) 631-5500.
