Dorothy A. Ries

Dorothy A. Ries, 89, of Aurora passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 at Jennings Terrace. She was born October 21, 1924 in Aurora, IL. Dorothy was employed as a book keeper at Aurora Beverage Distributors which was her family’s business. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, the Aurora Moose Lodge #400 over 55 Club, Women of the Moose Chapter #83, Prisco Center Friendly Center Club of Fox Valley Park District, the Aurora Township Senior Center, the VFW Ladies Auxillary #1197 since 1959, Amvets Auxillary #103, the American Legion Auxillary #84. Dorothy was also founding parent of Valley Haven at Church of the Good Shepard in Oswego which developed into the Association for Individual Development. She is survived by two sons John P. (Sandra) Ries, III of Aurora and Gary G. (Brenda) Ries of Aurora; her grandchildren Tammy Ries of Yorkville, Valerie Ries of Aurora, Bonnie Ordaz of Jacksonville, FL, Nicholas Ries of Aurora, and Billie Sharp of Montgomery; her great grandchildren , Jessica Ordaz, Anthony Ordaz, Adrian Ordaz, Jada Ordaz all of Jacksonville, FL; Christian Ries of Aurora , Erin Sharp, Michael Sharp of Montgomery, Jacob Ries and Philip Ries both of Aurora; and her sister-in-law, Katherine Steil. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John P. Ries Jr; her second husband, James E. Findlay; two children, Dale V. Ries and Karen L. Ries; her brother, Raymond Steil; sister, Marge (Joe) Poss and by her parents, Valentine and Anna Steil. The family wishes to extend a thank you to the staff at Jennings Terrace, to Dr. Michael Marzec and to all of the many caregivers Dorothy has had through the years. A special thank you goes to Sheridan Miechle who was with Dorothy for the last 1 ½ years through the thick and thin times in her life while residing at Jennings Terrace. Funeral from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY will be Friday, October 17, 2014 at 9:30 am to St. Joseph Church at 10:00 am. Fr. Jerome Leake will officiate with Deacon Bruce Waterman. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, October 16, 2014 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a liturgical wake service at 5:00pm at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N.
