Carmen C. Sierra

Carmen Magallon Contreras Sierra, 84, of Aurora, passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at Seasons Hospice Inpatient Care in Naperville, IL. She was born March 28, 1929 in Hacienda de San Lazaro, Mpio. Tamazula, Jalisco, Mexico. She owned and operated Sierra’s Boutique in Aurora, IL for several years until her semi-retirement in 1991. Her entrepreneurial spirit was never satisfied as she continued her passion – sewing and design – custom apparel and selling Rainbow vacuums until she made the part-time move to Sandy Springs, GA to be with her son in 2003. She was involved in the local Mexican-American community and especially proud to have served as Treasurer for the Fiestas Patrias (Mexican Independence Festivities) and in spearheading the first sponsored Fiestas Patrias’ Christmas Party for local families in need to ensure that children enjoyed the experience of receiving Christmas gifts. She will be forever remembered for the abundance of compassion and generosity she possessed and freely shared with family, friends or strangers who simply needed a little guidance, support and/or a helping hand – no ones’ needs went unfulfilled when she was around. Survivors include her son, Salvador (Robin) C. Sierra, Sandy Springs, GA, daughter, Beatriz Ruiz Sierra Paniagua, Aurora, IL & Obrajuelo, GTO, Mexico, close nieces, Josefina Ramirez Llamas, Aurora, IL, and Maurilia (Fernando) Lascon Contreras, Elgin, IL, close nephews Jaime (Alicia) Contreras, and Trino (Margarita) Contreras, Aurora, IL, close cousin Arturo (Rosa) Contreras, Joliet, IL, close godparents Guillermo (Ma. Cresencia) Betancourt, Joliet, IL, numerous nieces/nephews/cousins, in Illinois and throughout Mexico, her cherished grandchildren, Carmen Julia Ruiz, Eddie Ruiz, Chicago Heights, IL, and Yesenia (Roman) Ruiz Sanchez, Calhoun, GA, great-grandchildren, Jasmin, Valeria, Andrea, Roman Jr., and Analee, Calhoun, GA, and step-brothers in California & Mexico. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 30 years, Jose A. Sierra Perez, her mother Maria Magallon and father Daniel Chavez Contreras, her brother Alberto Contreras, her son-in-law Simon Ruiz, and In-laws Guadalupe Perez & Baldomero Sierra Paniagua. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 11:30 AM from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, to St. Rita of Cascia Church at 12:00 PM with interment at Lincoln Memorial Park.
