Audrey Burns

Audrey (Hettinger) Burns was called to heaven by the Lord on December 28th. Born in Aurora, Illinois, to Gertrude and William Hettinger, Sr., she met and fell in love with Leonard Burns, a best friend of her big brother Bill’s. After Len returned from the war, they married and the family grew and moved many times before settling on 7 kids and Hartford, Wisconsin, where they lived for 40+ years. Audrey was a warm, loving mother who always knew when one of her kids needed a hug. With all those children, she was on the run 24x7. Still, she found time to work the registers at several local Hartford stores. She laughed heartily with her bridge ladies, inspired her cub-scout pack and led each and every one of her children through college, even though she never went herself. She found joy in hosting large family events with extended family reaching over 50 people at a time. These family reunions live on in the hearts of her family and are fond remembrances of the love and care she shared. Audrey will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She will join her parents and her dear brother Bill (William) who are already with the Lord. She is survived by her former husband Len, her siblings Jean Ann and Lee and her children, Michael, Lawrence, Jeffrey, David, Susan, Jim and Laura, all of their spouses, as well as 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, their children and other relatives in the Aurora area and elsewhere. All of that laundry is finally done and put away. Thanks Mom. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 9:30 AM from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to Annunciation church at 10:00 AM; Fr. Patrick Gillmeyer, O.S.B. will officiate with interment at Marywood Cemetery in Aurora, Illinois, near her beloved parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles. Visitation will be held Friday, January 5, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake Street, Aurora, IL 60506. (630) 631-5500.
