Arlene M. Colwell

Arlene M. Colwell, 84, formerly of Aurora, IL and Wenatchee, WA, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 at her daughter’s home. She was born October 20, 1928 to August and Mary (Assell) Millen in Aurora, Illinois. Arlene graduated from Madonna High School. She was a St. Charles Hospital graduate in 1949 as a Registered Nurse. Arlene married Tom Colwell and they were married for 60 years. She worked in various hospitals in the Aurora area from 1953-1978. Arlene worked as an R.N. in Wenatchee, WA from 1978-1991before moving back to Big Rock, IL in 1991. During her retirement they spent most winters in Mesa, AZ or going on one of the 21 cruises they enjoyed. They also loved camping throughout the United States. Arlene enjoyed creating crafts of all kinds. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother and great grandma. She is survived by her children: Kenneth Edward (Mary) Colwell of Davenport, IA, Timothy Charles (Barbara) Colwell of Lakewood, WA, Karen Rose (Jeffrey) Phillips of Big Rock, Daniel William (Lynda) Colwell of Osceola, IA, James Paul (Ron Bergum) Colwell of Renton, WA and Maureen Suzanne (Stephen) Olson of West Chicago; eight grandchildren: Aaron (Gwen) Colwell, Michael (Christine) Phillips, Jonathan Colwell, Benjamin (Jenny) Colwell, Stephanie (Justin) Sommers, Nicholas (fiancé Julia) Colwell and Kyle and Megan Olson; and great grandchildren, Madelyn and Ryan Phillips. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband in 2010; her parents; eldest daughter, Sharon; and brothers, Fr. Edwin, Richard and William Millen. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at St. Joseph Church at 10:00 AM. Fr. Jerome Leake and Fr. Bob Jones will officiate with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, April 1, 2013 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, with a Liturgical Wake Service at 7:00 PM, at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora, IL 60506. 630-631-5500.
