Hortencia Valadez

Hortencia Valadez (Tencha), age 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2020 in El Paso, Tx. She was born on July 31, 1951 in Cd. Juárez Chihuahua, Mexico to Cruz and Ana Maria Mauricio. She is the second oldest of eight children. Hortencia married Nicolas on April 22, 1978 in Aurora Il where together they started their wonderful life and raised their 5 children. She began her work journey at Aurora Laundry moving on to BRK for 18 years, Omron 12 years and finally retiring from Oswego School Dist. bus company at 62 years of age. Shortly after retiring she proudly decided to move to El Paso, Tx to care for her aging parents whom she adored. During her time on this earth she was well loved by all who came in contact with her. She will be remembered as the one with a heart of gold and contagious smile that lit up every room she entered. She loved to play loteria with her family, making sure she always yelled out "BUENAS" really loud when she won. She also enjoyed grilling out with her husband and children (as long as Nico didn't burn the meat). Cooking was her specialty, everyone loved Tencha's food. She will be immensely missed by her family and friends. Hortencia Valadez is survived by her husband of 42 years, Nicolas Valadez; five children, Isaura Valadez, Laura Suarez, Nicolas Jr. Valadez (Rosalind), Angel Valadez (Angela) and Griselda Valadez. She also leaves behind the 13 loves of her life, her grandchildren, Jonathan, Alezay, Xavier, Daniel, Izabel, Cruz, Priscilla, Evelyn, Izaac, Mia, Corissa, Leopoldo and Josiah as well as 2 sisters, Patricia Velez and Leonor Luna (Ruben), 3 brothers, Hipolito Mauricio (Maria), Jesus M. Mauricio (Socorro) and Jose Luis Mauricio (Angelica) along with many special nieces/nephews, cousins and life-long friends to cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her parents Cruz and Ana Maria Mauricio, sisters Maria Elena Valadez and Rebeca Rangel. Funeral Mass will be Monday, October 26, 2020 at 9:30am from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to St. Rita of Cascia, 750 Old Indian Trail, Aurora at 10:00am. Fr. Oscar Cortes will officiate with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 25, 2020 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora, 630-631-5500. Due to Covid-19 pandemic protocols, non-family visitors are asked to pay their respects to the family for only a few minutes and exit the funeral home in a timely fashion.
