In 1902, Peter M. Daleiden founded and established The Daleiden Mortuary. His sons, George and Theodore, joined him in partnership and after their father's death in 1940, they continued to operate the mortuary until Ted passed away in 1955.

Thereafter, George operated the business as sole proprietor until his son, Peter, graduated from Worsham College and was employed by the mortuary. After several years, Peter was accepted as a junior partner until his father's death in 1976.

In 1980, Peter was able to better accommodate the needs of the ever-increasing clientele by purchasing the Corcoran Funeral Home at Lake and Cedar Streets on Aurora's West Side. This was the same organization that his grandfather was affiliated with in the late 1800s.

Before the modernizing renovation of The Daleiden Lake Street Mortuary in 1993, Peter's two daughters, Stephanie and Anastasia, each of whom are licensed funeral directors, joined him in the profession.

The High Street facility of The Daleiden Mortuary was contributed to St. Nicholas Church on May 30, 2004 to be used by the Parish as a community center and priest residence.

The Daleiden Family is very pleased that the building is able to function to the benefit of the church. We are expecially honored that the pastor has named the facility, The St. Nicholas Daleiden Center in recognition of our family's more than 100 years of funeral service to the greater Aurora community.

We remain totally committed to the assistance of our clientele during their time of sorrow at our Lake Street location.
