Funeral Costs Funeral costs are determined by many factors, most of which are controlled by the choices family members make. Basic costs to the mortuary owner, all of which are reflected in today's funeral price, include mortgage, rent, taxes, maintenance, staff salaries, supplies, automotive, administrative costs, and merchandise. We offer families many choices for services and merchandise in several price ranges so we can provide nearly any level of funeral ceremony they desire. Prices for caskets and vaults vary depending on their material and quality of construction. There are virtually unlimited options available and families have the opportunity to select whatever they believe is appropriate for them. The funeral professional is dedicated to respecting the families' wishes and helping them make informed decisions. Whatever their choices, the funeral director will be attentive to their needs and desires and provide quality, caring service. There are several non-mortuary expenses over which the funeral home has no control. These are costs of materials and services provided by other people or organizations. These may include cemetery fees, newspaper notifications, clergy honorarium, tax on materials, flowers, etc. In most cases, the mortuary can arrange for these necessities or desires, but prepayment for them is not included in funeral home costs. They must be paid for separately by families, usually before the funeral service. |
